AQUELARRE

"Corazones del lado del Fuego"

(Corasound, 74:02 –1999)

Live engraving in the Teatro Presidente Alvear November 29, 4, 5 and 6 of December of 1998.

We said yesterday… Rodolfo García marks four with the toothpicks of his battery and the ceremony begins (like it always began until twenty-two years ago) with "Canto", while its powerful riff gives cause so that Emilio del Guercio tells us that "… from the bottom of the ruins there is a voice that he screams and he screams…". And you cannot avoid the common place of saying that the magic has returned", because together with these four remarkable musicians, many grew believing that the music is a place where maybe things cannot be changed, but perhaps allow that the life can be a little better. And the seventy four minutes and two seconds that this disk lasts it allows us to corroborate it. One can make an artistic technical, other analysis and perhaps, other historical of "Corazones del lado del Fuego". One can say that Héctor Starc is one of the most talented guitarists that there are for these latitudes, or that Hugo González Neira possesses a good unique pleasure when playing his keyboards or song like he only knows how to make it, or that Emilio del Guercio possesses an unique quality to sing and that his bass is an authentic motor inside the group, or that Rodolfo García continues being a great musician that plays the battery more than a simple drummer. But does the always prevail (analysis?) of the senses. Because what feels when he makes irruption they "Miren a este Imbecil", or when "Aves Rapaces" remind us that the bad of the past still cohabits with us, or when the authentic Hugo González Neira invites us to participate of the "Ceremonias para Disolver", we realize that many times what feels go beyond all analysis type. But this it is the comment of a disk, and like it corresponds, it is necessary to speak of the music contained in him. But, what can one say of a group that shows us that the time didn't pass, for the simple one made that Aquelarre always sounded well, they were always serious and did they always have (and do they have) a coherent attitude before its work and its public? (To only check it coarse to be remitted to the report published in Mellotron N°23). hopefully in the seventy technical possibilities had existed since as those that exist today in day, in that way many more they could have discovered in that moment to one of the most mature bands that gave in rock in our country. It is not casual, then that from their meeting, Aquelarre has harvested praises from all the sectors of the press and of the public. And it happens that the facts don't have contrasts: is there maybe at this time some group that is integrated by four excellent musicians, four excellent composers and that also possess four excellent voices? Is there some band that has been able to compose topics of a quality like "Hermana Vereda" or "Cruzando la Calle" (of the wonderful "Candiles")? does it Exist some topic so vigorous at the present time as "Movimiento"? is there some group that you can release to make a topic as "Blues y Vino", and later to marvel with the poetry of "Violencia en el Parque"? can it be to some band that passes of the lyrical one and the simplicity of "Savia de los Aromos", "Canto Cetrino" and "Silencio Marginal", to the intricate roads of "Magico y Natural"? is The answer possibly not, as it was surely it in the seventy. And this enlarges even more the work of Aquelarre, the one of before (that is to say, their four wonderful disks and this wonderful work live engraving). And we said he makes a while… that this was the comment of a disk. Well, we name the members of the group, we name all the topics, we speak of the band. But what you cannot express with words, arises Rodolfo García it hardly marks four with the toothpicks of their drums, and the ceremony begins, like it always began until twenty-two years ago, with "Canto". And those that we had the opportunity to see them in that time, far from exercising an of nostalgia, we allow ourselves to enjoy today one of the most personal music that gave the rock for these latitudes. Aquelarre represents no more, no less that the fruit of the serious work and seriously. And all the flatteries that receive, since November 19 the ´98 were presented again before the public, they have them broadly desert, as well as we have broadly desert to enjoy their magnificent music.
