BJORN LYNNE -

COLONY

Well the first thing one notices when you pick up this release is the impressive space artwork on the cover and also in the booklet by artist Tobias Richter. Various spacey themes are interpreted and in fact the album is “Dedicated to all the visionaries who work in the field of planet colonization research and planning”. I was not too knowledgeable about the music of Lynne but was pleasantly surprised to hear a well-crafted album of differing electronic styling mixed with some impressive guitar work thrown in for good measure. The spacey contentions may mean to some that this is an album of slow and drifting soundscapes but this is not the case, the music being melodic, rhythmic and even driving like on the track “Hyperdrive Stimuli” which mixes drum sounds, extreme synthetics and some rapid fine guitar work. This is the sort of track that film producers might pick for an action movie for example in a car chase or something else that involves terra way action and breakneck speed! So to wrap things up we have an album that comprises a prog work feel courtesy of the ubiquitous electric guitar with a style that should please greatly the followers of classic EM. Nice one!
