I MOTHER EARTH

IME is a band formed in Toronto, Canadá circa 1990 for the brothers Jagori and Christian Tanna, both excellent musicians. You can classify as a group prog-rock with tendencies toward the funk and that they incorporate many arrangements of percussions (bongos, kettledrums) .Su way to play is enough " forte " and potent, forming a quite peculiar hybrid sound besides that know how to manage the musical "interludes very well."

Their main influences obviously are Rush, (also Canadian), King Crimson and some jazz-coalition groups like Brand X. are to recognize that in all their disks it is noticed their tendency clearly toward the funk. One of the distinctive characteristics of this group is that their vocalist Edwin possesses a serious and harmonious quasi-hoarse voice.

At the moment they have a new vocalist with characteristic similar; their vocalization is very similar to that of Bono of U2.

I Mother Earth has opened up for groups like Radiohead and Rush demonstrating this way its musical quality and of being some musicians admired so much in the progressive scene as in the    "alternative". In their live presentations they are characterized to read in each recital something of poetry, of authors like Burroughs or Kerouac and of making performance (theatrical). Something curious of mentioning it is that a Chilean plays with them (percussions) but he is not official member of the band.

In spite of their short discography, they have 3 official disks to their to have, it is a group that will continue giving that to speak in later years.

That they will offer us for the 2003?

Discography:

"Dig"

(1993)

With their cousin operates they demonstrate all her might and virtuosity. All the themes are of a superb quality and to the lyrical one is given a great importance; most written by the guitarist and the drummer, influenced maybe by some poets of the Beat Generation. Many tempo changes are noticed, syncopated rhythms, a battery lavishes, arpeggios of organ Hammond and musical passages with percussions. Without a doubt some a disk to be listened with the shone mind; besides possessing an exquisite sound.

"Scenery & Fish"

(1996)

I dial that surpasses to the previous one, is another work teacher. They are centered but in acoustic pieces, melodies at against-time, harmonies jazz-funky, well structured instrumental passages, quasi-psychedelic sounds; all that joined to intelligent and quite interesting letters.

"Blue Green Orange"

(1999)

For this disk they change vocalist and their sound is a little more "light". Their themes are but guided toward the jazz and with soft melodies. An interesting disk but to the one that he lacks but textures and atmospheres, however it is exquisite. They maintain their characteristic sound but with melancholicer chords. It is worthwhile to listen to it when wants leave to visit " Lacrimosaland".
