Interview with the bassist Jamie Cavanagh
By
Alejandro Allo
Hello Jamie. Thank you very much for your willingness to give an
interview for Nucleus.
Thank to you Alejandro!
That such it is going them until here with this extensive tour?
Incredible; it has been
definitively one of the best experiences in my life.
Many things have happened... “The Natural Disaster Tour” started
2 years ago.
The “The Natural Disaster Tour” conclude in Latin America, truth?
Yes. The South American tour
starts on the 6th of October in Brasil, then they follow the shows of
Chile, Argentina and we conclude October 14 in Mexico.
And with the step of the time the band was able to
be stabilized and to maintain the same line-up, truth?
Yes, we still continue
together!
Anathema continuous today being integrated for Danny Cavanagh
(guitar, vocal, keyboard), John Douglas (drums), Jamie
Cavanagh (bass), Les Smith (keyboards), Lee Douglas
(vocals) and Vincent Cavanagh (vocals, guitar, Vocoder).
Three years of the edition have passed of “A
Natural Disaster”... That you remember of the compossitive process of
the disc?
While composing and choosing
songs, Danny and I realised that alot of his songs had a similar
feel lyrically and musically. They were written around the same time and
alot of it was based around the same subject matter, we decided to put
all of these songs together on one disc.

And the recording process?
The recording process was
very difficult. We produced the record ourselves. On the whole I am
happy with the result and we have had a great response from the record.
It was difficult to make. We shall record differently next time I think.
I would like that they describe each one to me of
the subjects that comprise of “A Natural Disaster”.
I'm afraid you'll just have
to work it out for yourself. I really can't go into details. People
should form their own opinion into what it means.
Well, let us return to the tour. That expectation
has for their show in Argentina?
We are very, very much
looking forward to playing in Argentina for the first time!
We are playing two nights in Buenos Aries which is just great. This will
give us a chance to play lots of songs from all albums including new
songs never played before!!!
Both nights will have a different set list so you can go to both and get
two different shows!!!
How is going to be the unfolding of the show?
You'll just have to wait and
see for yourselves!
That country is going to be the last one in having
the honor to receive them?
No, we do have a show in
Mexico after that. But we are honoured to be invited to play in South
America.
That will do when they finish all the show?
Have a nice cup of tea and a
warm bath and early to bed... maybe!!!!
Surely soon we will have news related with the new
album... How does it go the work?
Yes, we are recording
demos of new songs right now. We will record the next album as soon as
we can. I feel the new music is the best we've ever done.
Well Jamie, many thanks
for this brief interview that will be good to calm our anxiety partly.
Some message for all fans before the show?
Hello to everybody in
Argentina! We are very happy to have the opportunity to share our music
with you. Come to the show. Bring your friends.
Take care. See you all soon!
